ADVERTISEMENTS:
My dear Mayank,
The vacations are on and I am sure you are enjoying yourself. Life has been particularly kind to me during this vacation because I have rediscovered the joy of reading. In fact, I am writing this letter to you with the intention of telling you that I have discovered a rare autobiography. It is written in deceptively simple language that startles you with its poetic beauty and abounds with pearls of profoundly philosophical wisdom.

I am talking about Ruskin Bond’s Scenes From a Writer’s Life which has had a tremendous impact on the way I look at life. Please do not think it to be one of those artificial ‘feel good’ books. This one just has an author sharing his understanding of his life. Be it the description of his childhood with his father or the later years when he found his true calling in India, Bond is superb!
ADVERTISEMENTS:
Believe me, if you read the book about this Anglo-Indian boy’s journey from childhood to adulthood through numerous obstacles and discovering in the process his identity as an author and an Indian, you will laugh at the naive perception that Ruskin Bond’s readership is more or less limited to children.
I believe that you shall take my unsought advice seriously and get a copy of this bestseller. Let me know your response to this work. Please communicate my regards to Uncle and Aunty and I hope you enjoy your reading.
Yours affectionately,
Darshan
