Mr. Prem Avatar Gupta is my father. He is the head of our small and happy family. He is well-built and good looking. He is forty years of age but looks much younger. He is the only earning member in our family. By profession, he is a shopkeeper. He is a general merchant and deals in things of daily uses. All sorts of articles of daily use can be found in his shop.
His shop is in the main market of our locality. It is at a walking distance from our house. My father has inherited this shop from his father, i.e. my grandfather. But I am afraid I shall not be able to continue this shopkeeping. I want to become a doctor. I do not have an aptitude for business.
My father’s income is good. He is an honest businessman. He believes in the principle that customer is always right. Hence, he strives his utmost to give his customer the maximum satisfaction. He believes in service of the people. He is serving the people in his own way by supplying them things at very reasonable rates. That is why he is very popular among his customers and locality.

My father never gives goods on credit. He believes in fair and straightforward dealing. His patrons and buyers belong to all walks of life and ranges from the poor to rich. He never discriminates one customer from another on the basis of social status etc. For him, every customer is respectable and valuable. There are two assistants in the shop to help him in his business. One is a lady and the other a boy. They both look upon my father as their own father. And my father in return treats them as his own children.
He is a successful businessman, a respected father and a loved husband. My father is God-fearing and religious. A certain portion of his income is spent in charity. Last year, he bought a set of textbooks and helpbooks for a class-fellow of mine who happened to be an orphan. His love, help and guidance is a great source of strength me. I love him profoundly. I always pray for his long life and good health.
