Short Biography of Justice Ranganath Misra – Born on 25th November, 1926, Justice Ranganath Misra was educated at Cuttack, Orissa and Allahabad University.
He enrolled as Advocate of the Orissa High Court on September 18, 1950 and also practiced before the Cuttack High Court, where he handled all sorts of cases.

He was appointed permanent Judge of the Orissa High Court on July 4, 1969 and later became acting Chief Justice, Orissa High Court on November 6, 1980 and Chief Justice from January 16, 1981.
He became a Judge of the Supreme Court of India on March 15, 1983 and was appointed the Chief Justice of India on September 25, 1990. He retired on November 24, 1991.
